This mousepad is based on a shot across the bow from Senator Marie Alvarado Gil, a former Democrat in the CA Senate who switched to the Republicans. Her tweet is as follows:

But I m more concerned with the spanish trash talking, specifically how the gender of this word changes its meaning in some way.

then things get a little tricky as to what the meaning of the word Pendeja is and is not.
The direct translation of the word means pubic hair, but i don t think anyone ever uses it to mean that, the latin root of the word in spanish comes from the latin word for pubic, and in the 1600 s in spain it was a word used to decscribe teenagers.
If there was an o at the end of it with a masculine ending everyboyd knows that means asshole among other things, but since it is a little weird to call a female an asshole and this has a feminine ending then the slang curse word becomes a word of several meanings.
On some websites there are as much as 46 different meanings of the word pendeja, but the gist of it is that it is a derogoty word for another female and an insult. It can mean anything from stupid, to cowardly, weak minded, schemer, or stupid ass.
essentially the word is a little like beavis and buthead calling each other dumb ass every other sentence.
This confrontation apparently led to someone challenging Senator Alvarado Gil to a fight outside, hence the Mexican standoff design I created with A.I.
The point being, Nobody in California is winning from this kind of immaturity.
