The statue of Minerva on the west steps of the CA Capitol Building looks down the road across the bridge towards Solano County and the Bay Area.

This statue of Minerva at Pioneer Square in San Francisco looks west towards City Hall and the ever expanse of the Pacific Ocean.

I like the symbolism and symitry of these statues looking in the same direction. I don t think its an accident either, when I was in the Capitol I noticed that there were a lot of desks in the offices of Senators and Assemblymembers that point in all directions except west.  Even when I was in the Governro s office most of the staff s desks pointed in a non west direction.  I am farily certain that when the Governor sits down at his her desk it is facing the same direction as Minerva.

With the redesign and reconstruction of the annex I hope that changes.
